What to expect when relocating for a work?
Corporate benefit packages are different to each company. Your benefits administrator will give you the specifics of your relocation package and initial directions. Depending on your personal level of benefits, you will be directed to a particular mover, or you might be asked to choose a mover of your choice. Either way, Corrigan’s knowledgeable team will be there, helping you during every phase of the way.
Your Home Survey
Because the cost of your move is based on the total weight and miles of your move, a home survey is needed to determine the weight of your household goods. For the move survey, you will guide a moving consultant throughout your home and out-buildings, showing the items that will be included in your move. You can expect to be asked to open doors, cupboards, closets as well as look under beds for belongings that are easily forgotten!
*Virtual surveys have vastly become the primary way of conducting a home survey for our corporate relocation customers. All the same, in-home surveys with a professional moving representative are still a choice.
Going Over the Estimate & Honing Moving Needs
After finishing your move survey, you will receive a relocation estimate. Corrigan’s relocation consultant will go over the quote in detail and offer choices for staying within your allocated corporate relocation budget.
A few points to consider when honing your relocation needs to reduce the cost of your relocation:
- You can lower the total cost by boxing your own items, or, limiting the amount of packing to be just the fragile things.
- Giving away or selling things that are no longer useful will bring down the weight, extend your moving budget, and remove unused items in your new house.
- Are your dates flexible? If there’s flexibility in your schedule and you are able to adjust your dates a little; you could see a cost savings. Be sure to inform move coordinator know if your dates are adjustable.
Your move coordinator will work with you to determine a custom relocation plan that meets your personal relocation needs and stays within your specified budget. Our experience relocating corporate transferees means you will have access to the industries’ most skilled and veteran professionals equipped with an arsenal of personalized moving packages.
