What You Need to Be Responsible for on Moving Day

Relocation day has at last come to fruition! You have spent a lot of time preparing for this time, and if you spent the time to choose a top-tier relocation company, today can be a happy experience. The movers will handle all the heavy lifting from here.

On relocation day it’s finally time to complete coordinating and proceed with implementing. In case you’ve missed any of the previous pieces of this series, you can read up by choosing the links below:

Watch out for your items - and yourself!

It’s always helpful to get a terrific night’s sleep the night before moving day —and make time to eat a considerable breakfast. It is sure to be a hectic day, and you will just feel better throughout the day if you’re well rested and well fed. You will be glad you did!

On the big day, it is important to be free during the relocation. When your movers arrive, provide them a quick tour of your house, pointing out any breakable objects in need of additional attention in addition to any pieces you don’t want the movers to take. This will enable them to get an idea for the place and your objectives.

We suggest having your favorite book or magazine picked out for move day. It’s crucial for you to be on hand during the day should any of the crew members have questions, but as soon as the crew members get started you’ll have some idle time on your hands. Because your TV and electronics will all be packed up, you will want to be sure you have something to keep you entertained.

Attention to detail

Following the walk through, the movers will initiate laying down flooring coverings. If you are moving cross-country, your crew chief will initiate creating a thorough inventory list of everything you’re moving, and their quality at origin. This record will be used to verify everything shows up at your new place in the same quality as it departed your current place.

When the mover’s are finished, it’s important to go through the home one final time with the crew leader and ensure that everything has been loaded. Be sure to check all the closets, cabinets, and storage areas for any forgotten items. When everything is taken from of the home, you will talk with the driver and sign all of the move documents.

One last review

After the movers head out, end your relocation day by going through your home one final time to make sure that the windows are all secured, the lights are all turned off, and your water and furnace are shut off. Say your well wishes to your space – it supported you well, but you have a new space waiting for you!
